The Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon is one of Asia’s largest marathons, popular with both Thai and foreign runners. The event attracts more than 30,000 participants each year who take to the streets of Bangkok at 3am in the morning in an effort to beat the daytime humidity. If you’re not comfortable doing the complete marathon distance (42km) there are also 21km, 10km, 4.5km and 1.5km course options available.
The scenic marathon course takes runners past many historical landmarks of ethnic and cultural importance. All divisions start and finish at Sanam Chai Road out the front of The Royal Grand Palace. The Bangkok Marathon is officially sanctioned by The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the Amateur Athletic Association of Thailand (IAAF Rules).
