The Angor Wat International Half Marathon is one of Asia’s most fascinating running events, taking you on a 21 kilometre journey though the impressive archaeological sites of Angor Wat. The course is mostly flat and is lined by ancient trees that provide some much needed shelter from the tropical sun.
Runners from all over the world participate to support a ban on the manufacture and inhumane use of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees and additional financial support foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and supporting other relevant and needed programs such as education and prevention of HIV / AIDS.
It’s not the most extravagant event but the historic backdrop and the wonderful cause make it one of Asia’s best marathons.
