The Tour of Cambridgeshire Gran Fondo is a mass participation cycle sport event unlike any other mass participation event in the UK. Uniquely the event caters for everyone whether you are an elite racer, an athletic sports rider, a challenge rider, or just out to test yourself in a more leisurely way on your bike, on closed roads, around the stunning Cambridgeshire countryside. It is also the UK qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The Gran Fondo is held on fully closed roads over 80.2 miles (129.07km). Riders competing to qualify for the UCI World Amateur Road Championships must compete over the long route. An option to participate over a shorter route of 90km is also available for Leisure riders.
The 129km event will start and finish from the Peterborough Arena with the course heading out in to the scenic Cambridgeshire countryside over unique terrain before returning. If you are racing it offers some of the most challenging riding in the UK very similar to Belgium with some short sharp climbs at the start followed by the wide open roads of the Fens. A unique opportunity to echelon in safety and ride in a technically challenging environment.
