The Great Brisbane Bike Ride (including Coot-tha Challenge) is held in May every year.
On the GBBR, there’s a challenge for bike riders of all abilities. Riders can choose from a 40km, 75km or 110km route, starting and finishing on Riverside Drive at West End. All riders will follow the general direction of the Brisbane River on a road route towards the Gateway Bridge, before climbing over the Brisbane landmark and heading back towards the City via Kingsford Smith Drive and the Inner-City Bypass which will be closed to motor vehicles.
The 75km and 110km routes also give riders the option of taking on the famed Coot-tha Challenge – a timed 2.3km, 9% climb up and around Mt Coot-tha. Last year, more than 1,000 riders took the ultimate test by tackling the mountain.
