As if you needed another reason to book a trip to Italy in the fall, this year's Granfondo Campagnolo Roma is coming up on October 8th. The event closes the Granfondo season for 6.000 amateur cyclists from Italy and 50 other countries; it's 120km long (that's about 75 miles, but you'd better believe the route markings will be metric, so start getting used to it, folks) with 2000 meters of climbing, going from the Colosseum in Rome through the historical center of the city and to the Castelli Romani (Roman hill towns) on traffic-free roads.
Cycling enthusiasts of all kinds will converge on Rome for six bike events—including the amazing Village Expo at Caracalla, which saw more than 40,000 attendees in 2016—over three days, celebrating cycling, Italian culture, and Italian cuisine. (Needless to say, your pre-and post-ride meals have never been tastier.)
