The 3-Laender Marathon (or the 3-Country Marathon) is one of the world’s best destination marathons. Held at the beginning of October every year, the marathon takes runners along the shores of Lake Constance, entering all 3 of the countries that border the lake – Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The most recent edition of the event saw over 6,000 competitors from 63 countries take to the shores of Lake Constance. Although there are many mountains surrounding the Lake, the marathon stays close to the shore and as a result has a reasonably flat course profile.
All runners start at 11.10 am in Lindau Harbour, Germany. Due to limited parking for cars it is recommended that all runners should arrive in Bregenz. Here you will find plenty of parking. There will be continuous train and ferry transfers from 8am-9.30am for all runners free of charge from Bregenz Harbour directly to Island Lindau Harbour.
